Stressed with the day job, I was inspired by a woodturning video on social media. Three months later I had myself a workshop and a real passion for taking wood from the ground and turning it in to beautiful, hand crafted items.

Over the past few years The Suffolk Bowl Company has become my haven and vehicle to express the creative design ability that I developed during my product design degree.

 

Most of my bowls are twice turned - once when the wood is green (wet) and once when it's dried out, moved and cracked for character. I'm a very low volume workshop. Every piece is a one off and is very carefully considered - they're looked after in my home during the drying phase before being finished. It's likely that the wood may continue to move after purchase - all part of the organic nature of this wonderful material and the way the product has been created.
